We recently visited a client with twin Volvo Penta KAMD300 engines in his Riviera 3000 to confirm that we could successfully display data from the engines onto his Raymarine Axiom chart plotter.
Armed with our portable NMEA2000 test kit and a pair of Yacht Devices YDES-04 – J1708 Engine gateways we were able to quickly connect the gateways to the two pin connections located in the wiring harness box located on each engine. With the two gateways connected back into our portable NMEA2000 network we initially just turned on the ignition of each engine.

Utilising the excellent built-in web gauges of the Yacht Devices Wi-Fi Gateway (YDWG-02) we were able to observe data immediately coming from the engines. We could see battery voltage, engine hours and engine temperatures (cold engines). We then proceeded to start both engines and added to this initial set of data we could then also visualise engine speed (RPM), boost pressure and fuel flow.

We were even able to adjust the engine hours on the starboard engine due to a previous engine computer changeout by the previous owner.
Our client was very happy with the outcome he proceeded to purchase the gateways and additional NMEA2000 hardware he required to connect the gateways to his installation and Raymarine Axiom.

Not sure if your engines are compatible? Drop us an email or call and provide us with the engine model and serials and we can quickly let you know.
